Intellectual Property

In 2008 and 2009, THOR filed five (5) domestic and international non-provisional patents on all aspects of its ocean current turbines, including:

(i) Power- THOR’s Power Method (or 'power control protocol')

(ii) Stability- static and dynamic stability features in the presence of the tethering constraint

(iii) Rotor Hub- a unique self contained underwater discrete pitch rotor hub (SCUDA-Hub)

(iv) Mooring- a novel mooring system which facilitates operation according to THOR’s Power Method 

(v) Anchoring- a multi-purpose anchor recovery and deployment intelligent submersible device (MARDI) for low cost anchor deployment.
